Join AMOCA this October to build your own ceramic pumpkin to last you through many Halloweens to come! In this one-day pottery class\, you’ll learn how to hand-build and decorate your very own pumpkin\, perfectly sized to hold a tea light and glow throughout the month. \nGuided by a friendly instructor\, you’ll shape your jack-o’-lantern from clay\, carve out your design\, and give it a personality that’s uniquely yours. You’ll add holes\, patterns\, and designs that\, when lit from within\, cast the most beautiful warm glow. Finish up your pumpkin with a variety of colorful glazes and our team will handle the rest. \nThis class is perfect for beginners\, pottery enthusiasts\, and anyone looking for Halloween activities that are creative\, festive\, and fun. You’ll create a handmade jack-o’-lantern that will light up your home for many spooky seasons to come. \nWorkshop tickets are $55 per person ($40 for Pomona Residents or AMOCA Museum Members); registration includes instruction\, materials\, and firing\, and admission to the museum the day of the workshop. \nAMOCA’s family workshops are for all ages and everyone is welcome! Both adults and children will be given supplies to participate in the art project. \nWe recommend wearing clothes that can get a bit muddy\, or bringing your own apron. \nAll participants will be provided clay and tools. We’ll fire your pumpkin in the AMOCA Studio and notify you when it’s ready for pickup\, usually about 2 weeks after the workshop.

AMOCA is open 11am-4pm on Saturdays; you might want to arrive a little early if you’d like to explore other current exhibitions. \nGame play materials and light refreshments will be provided. No experience is required; this is an opportunity to hang out with friends and learn a new card game.

DESCRIPTION:Introductory Sessions\nIntroductory sessions\, offered monthly\, are the perfect way to get your hands dirty\, relax\, and have fun! Learn the basics of throwing on the potter’s wheel. If you successfully create a bowl\, staff will glaze and fire it after the class is completed—all included in the price of the class. If you’d like to take the piece home with you\, you can come back and pick it up. \nIntroductory sessions last 60 minutes and cost $75. This fee includes everything needed for the class (including clay\, glaze\, and firing services). SUMMARY:National Geographic Live: Wild Wolves of Yellowstone
DESCRIPTION:Doug Smith served as a wildlife biologist at Yellowstone National Park for nearly three decades and studied everything from beavers to birds. Most importantly\, he led the Yellowstone Wolf Project\, which reintroduced gray wolves to the park. He’s written numerous scientific publications and has been featured in four National Geographic television specials. He has also written and edited several books about the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem\, including the 2023 book: Yellowstone’s Birds: Diversity and Abundance in the World’s First National Park. \nYellowstone National Park contains many stories\, including one of the best-case studies in wildlife conservation. This program explores how the landscape has changed since the wolves arrived\, including never-before-seen photos and videos of the quest to bring back this apex predator. \nNo live animals will be present.
