Adult six-week courses in hand building and wheel throwing encourage development of ceramic skills. \nClasses meet once a week for 2.5 hours in the AMOCA Ceramics Studio for six weeks (15 hours of total instruction)\, and are limited in size to twelve students. Access to open studio hours is included for the duration of the class and one week following. \nStudio classes are for adults ages 18 and over (students 16+ may attend classes when accompanied by a paying adult).

No ticket required. \nLocated at the newly built Bank of America Imagination Courtyard! \nMaruja Limón is a female sextet from Barcelona known for their vibrant music that blends flamenco\, pop\, and Latin rhythms. Formed in 2014\, they compose and arrange their own songs and have performed at festivals and venues across Europe\, Morocco\, and Spain\, including Festival Cruilla and Pirineos Sur. They are presenting the EP Te como la cara\, where they explore Catalan\, flamenco\, and Latin rumba fused with experimental electronic sounds\, dembow\, salsa\, and pop\, delivering explosive music with lyrics that balance sensitivity and irony. They gained recognition in Billboard’s On the Radar Latin section after their debut in the Latin Alternative Music Conference (LAMC\, New York). In January 2025\, Maruja Limón made their first U.S. tour\, captivating audiences and filling venues like the Lincoln Center in New York\, the Kennedy Center in Washington\, and even making a splash in Philadelphia. DESCRIPTION:Sunday\, July 26\, 2026 • 2:00 – 4:00PM • In Person • $0-$20\nJoin us at the museum for an afternoon of poetry with translator Naoko Fujimoto! Fujimoto’s latest book of Women: 20 Japanese Female Poets / 20 Waka Poems is a collection of translations of Japanese waka-poems from the seventh century to the twelfth century\, featuring twenty female poets from this period\, when Japanese women’s literature flourished. This book includes poems by famous writers from the era\, such as Sei Shonagon (The Pillow Book) and Murasaki Shikibu (The Tale of Genji)\, and introduces some lesser-known female poets as well. \nWaka compacts much information in a short form: words with double meanings\, unfamiliar phrases\, habits foreign to non-Japanese speakers\, and hidden historical backgrounds. Direct translations would fail to capture the author’s full intent\, so Of Women takes several approaches to capture the original sensory images\, including text collage and haibun\, short essays that provide historical context and introduce the author before each waka. \nFujimoto will begin the afternoon with a translation workshop at 2pm\, guiding participants in creating their own English translations of a short waka poem. No prior experience or knowledge of Japanese is necessary. This workshop is most suitable for ages 16+ (ages 12+ welcome to attend if accompanied by a ticketed adult).
