DESCRIPTION:Reading Room: Zines\, Comix & Other Radical Texts presents a loud and proud exhibition that celebrates the contemporary relevance and impacts of zines and comics on culture today\, on the visual and literary arts\, and in the Inland Empire region of Southern California. Organized by the museum with the support of campus and community partners\, the multidimensional exhibition focuses on artists and authors whose works engage with comic and zine-making. The exhibition also features hundreds of zines and comics for visitors to read and respond to in a community studio space. Accompanying public programs will include film screenings\, panel discussions\, hands-on art-making workshops\, and other community engagement opportunities featuring local and regional creatives. Artists include Yasmeen Abedifard\, Kumasi J. Barnett\, Cheyne Ellet\, Funchicken (Mark Todd & Esther Pearl Watson)\, Charles Glaubitz\, Kristen Liu-Wong\, Felix Quintana\, Alkaid Ramirez\, and Birdcage Comics Café\, Curious Publishing\, The Space/El Espacio\, and Tierra del Sol.

Artists Felix Quintana will share the joy of cyanotype\, an experimental photography method; Rebecca Ustrell (Curious Publishing) will lead a workshop on Experimental Bookbinding; and artists Funchicken (Mark Todd and Esther Pearl Watson) will lead participants on a Garbage Zine adventure\, making zines using found and fun discarded materials. All workshops are free and open to the public\, as space allows\, and are drop-in between the hours of 10am-2pm. DESCRIPTION:Chaffey College and the Wignall Museum of Contemporary Art proudly present Student Invitational 2024\, the 47th annual juried exhibition featuring Chaffey College student artists. In this rigorous program\, the selected artists work closely with faculty\, the museum curators and staff\, and other art professionals to create a new body of work. Please visit during regular hours\, M-Th\, 10am-4pm or Saturdays\, noon-4pm during the exhibition duration. The exhibition will be open April 15- May 9\, 2024. A free artists reception is scheduled for 4/23/24 from 4-6pm at the Wignall Museum. Enjoy light refreshments\, meet the faculty and artists\, free and open to the public.
