Juanita’s Statue
April 12 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm
$10.00Juanita’s Statue is a 75-minute contemporary comedy written by Latina playwright Anne Garcia-Romero. Juanita must disguise herself as a man to escape the wrath of her lover Ignacio’s father, Don Pedro. Masquerading as a “new” Don Juan, she careens through the city with her best friend Carmela. In the style of a Tele Novella, Juanita seduces many characters, all who instantly fall in love with him/her. Juanita’s romp soon lands her squarely at the feet of Don Juan Tenorio himself, as she struggles to find true love. Set in 2023 near Olvera Street in Downtown Los Angeles. The characters are bi-lingual, speaking Spanish and English.
Play contains adult content and subject matter. Best suited for a mature audience.
Directed by Professor Christa Havenhill.
