Are you ready to unlock your next skill: bending wood? Traditionally used for boat building and chair making, steam bending is an indispensable woodworking technique for shaping wood into sinuous curves. Martin Alexander will guide you through the process of steam bending, from discussing proper setup to offering creative input. You will learn how to freehand bend steamed wood into knots and curves, which will be used as components for a sculpture that is assembled using hot glue. This class is not labor-intensive and is accessible to all woodworking skill levels. It is designed for students looking to become familiar with creative steam bending and aims to introduce the necessary skills to continue steam bending at home.
Instructor
Martin Alexander is an interdisciplinary crafts person with an emphasis in technical skill mastery and conceptual art.
